Charity and Outreach

Holy Apostles parish community actively ministers to those in our area who are less fortunate than we are. In addition to our monthly “Charity Potluck Meals” that raise a substantial amount of money for charity, our parish has started to support a Cayce/West Columbia based interfaith charity and food bank called God’s Helping Hands. We are actively seeking other opportunities to minister to “The least of these” in our midst, and we covet your assistance as we reach out to those around us.

God’s Helping Hands:
-Food bank collections: We have a collection cannister for “non-perishables” in our parish hall, and donations are accepted on an ongoing basis. We encourage our parishioners to “buy a bag” of extra groceries on each trip to the store – Holy Apostles will make sure that this food gets to the needy through the local food bank.
-Other projects: We have purchased gifts for needy children in our area in conjunction with the Christmas gift project run by God’s Helping Hands, and we plan to work with this ministry in other ways as opportunities arise.

Local Inter-Orthodox Cooperation:
Holy Apostles has been in contact with other local Orthodox parishes about cooperative efforts, and plans are underway to combine our forces to witness to the Gospel of Christ by working together.
